Buildbase FA Trophy Build Up

Saturday Nov 9, 2019

We welcome Gainsborough Trinity to the CR MOT Centre Community Stadium at the Lamb TODAY (Saturday 9 Nov) for the 2Q Round of the Buildbase FA Trophy.

Tamworth and Gainsborough Trinity are no strangers to each other having played on 27 occasions since our first meeting on 29 Dec 1979, a Northern Premier League game at the Lamb in front of 140 supporters which ended in a 2-2 draw.

 The complete playing record is P27, W9 D9 L9 F29 A 29.

Twenty of the games have been league encounters, with the rest being cup games, of which 5 have been in the FA Trophy. Our complete record in the FA Trophy is as follows (Lambs score first)
 Date                   H/A       Rd            Score                Att
 19.1.10                A           2               0-0                  291

The Tamworth side that lined up in last season's encounter was Singh, Green K, Gough, Beswick (c.), Kettle, Jemson, Green P (Dunkley 64), Verma (Moore 82), Lait, Magunda, Waite (Townrow 90) Subs: Jeynes, Asante.     Chris Laite (x2) and Tyrelle Waite were on the score sheet and you can watch the highlights here - well worth a look to witness Chris Laite’s second goal!

Gaisnborough were relegated from the Vanarama National League North along with Tamworth at the end of the 2017/18 season and their first campaign in the Northern Premier League Premier Division saw them finish one place outside the play off places. They have faced a difficult start to this season lying in 21st place with 10 points. However, with a recent change of management there has been an upturn in form aided by a number of new signings. The new man in the hot seat is former Sheffield United and Birmingham City player Curtis Woodhouse. His assistant is Martin Foster who will be well known to Tamworth supporters as he was a member of our Conference North title winning side in season 2008/9. On the playing staff are Shane Clarke and Simon Russell, who have worn the red shirt of the Lambs.

We are delighted to welcome our sponsors for the game on Saturday, the Tamworth branch of Buildbase who can be found at 11 Magnus on the Tame Valley Industrial Estate, B77 5BY

Admission to the game is our normal league prices, which can be found here and there will be no segregation in place. Trinity fans will be most welcome in the clubhouse before and after the game. Current members of the armed forces, former serving military personnel and veterans will be admitted to the ground free of charge as guests of the club as we will be focusing our thoughts on Remembrance day before the game. Please show appropriate identification at the turnstiles to gain your free admission. A reminder that season ticket holders have to pay as this is a cup competition.

Parking is £2 for cars, £5 for mini busses and £10 for coaches.  A full match day programme will be issued and can be picked up in the club shop or sales points in the ground for £2.50.
