Bromsgrove Sporting v TFC Saturday 11th January

Thursday Jan 9, 2020

Tamworth travel to play Bromsgrove on Saturday.

While Sporting sit just two points behind the Lambs, they have played three extra games. Tamworth boast one of the best away records in the league having won 7, drawn 1 and lost just 1 of their 9 games.  At home Sporting have won 4, drawn 4 and lost 3. The added spice in the clash is that the Lambs will be looking to gain revenge for the 3-1 home defeat handed to them by Sporting in their first home game of the season.
The hosts are a young club, having only been formed in 2009 by a group of former Bromsgrove Rovers directors and supporters when the latter was in serious financial difficulty and facing closure. With Rovers’ difficulties deepening, Sporting were offered the tenancy of the town’s Victoria Ground by the District Council but had to play all home matches at the Beehive, home of Studley FC, as the pitch at the Victoria Ground had been left in an unplayable condition. They started life in the Midland Combination League 2 and after a lot of work and expenditure, Sporting were able to play their first match in Bromsgrove on 6th November 2010 in front of a crowd of 458. Ten years later they have achieved considerable success and  risen to step 3 of the non league pyramid following a play off victory over Corby Town last May.
