Live Blue Square Bet Premier Preview - Gateshead v AFC Wimbledon by Alan Alger from Blue Square

AFC Wimbledon have the chance to go back to the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier table on Friday night with a win at Gateshead. Terry Brown's team are the Evens favourites with league sponsors Blue Square to get the three points to return them to the summit. The International Stadium will play host to the cameras from Premier Sports and they should witness just how much the home side have improved since their switch to a full-time outfit in the summer. Ian Bogie's team have already claimed the scalp of Luton Town on their home patch back in September and followed that up with an impressive draw at Kenilworth Road last weekend. It's 13/5 for a home win on the night and 12/5 that this match ends in a draw. The Wombles have been involved in five stalemates in their last six matches so the latter price is worthy of consideration.

On Tuesday AFC Wimbledon were pegged back by Bath City after going two ahead at Twerton Park. That disappointment may still be lingering throughout the team tonight along with the possibility of heavy legs. Gateshead have had the luxury of six days rest but did play out the last 45 minutes at Luton with ten men so that exertion could still be felt towards the end of this encounter. That could point to some late goals and it may be worth watching this game with a view to placing a bet on Blue Square's in-play markets. The price for over ‘2.5 goals' in the game will be around 4/5 but if we allow 20 minutes to pass in this without a goal then we may be able to get this bet at an ‘odds against' quote during the game. Gateshead have kept six clean sheets in their 13 home games in the league which is an impressive total and something to keep in mind before getting involved in this market.

AFC Wimbledon have lost four away games from their 14 in the league so far this season. Each of those defeats have been on occasions where they did not find the net, therefore a bet on Gateshead to win without conceding may prove better value than a straight bet on the north east side. If you fancy Bogie's men to win then you can get 6/1 on them winning ‘to nil' - rather than the 13/5 on any home win. The away team have performed well when visiting sides in the bottom half and Brown will be happy with their haul of 13 points from a possible 18 when travelling to the teams around Gateshead in the table.

Danny Kedwell and Christian Jolley represent the Londoners best chance of a goal and they can be backed at 5/1 and 11/2 respectively to break the deadlock tonight. One player that has impressed in live games for his former club Ebbsfleet United is Wombles forward Luke Moore. He is just coming back to full fitness and could be worth a bet at 6/1 if featuring in the starting line-up. Moore was responsible for the first goal of Blue Square's sponsorship of the division way back in August 2007! Potential penalty taker Martin Brittain is the best ‘first goalscorer' bet from the home side at 11/1 - he has five goals from midfield this season.

Draw at 12/5

Over 2.5 goals at 4/5

Martin Brittain first goalscorer at 11/1.
