Blue Square Bet Premier live match and midweek betting preview by Alan Alger from Blue Square

Barrow and Altrincham meet at Holker Street on Tuesday night in front of the Premier Sports TV cameras for a hugely important clash at the bottom of the Blue Square Bet Premier. The teams will kick-off level on points and occupying the top two berths in the division's relegation zone. Home team Barrow do have a game in hand and superior goal difference but it has to be said that both sides are in real danger of playing in the Blue Square Bet North next season. The Bluebirds are the favourites at 10/11, with a draw priced at 12/5 and an away win offered at 13/5. Barrow extended their winless run to nine matches with a goalless draw at home to York City at the weekend. In the context of the table that can be considered a point gained and extends their decent record when the big teams visit Cumbria. The Minstermen becoming the eighth team from the top half of the table to return from LA14 with less than three points. It's not often that the joint-management team of Dave Bayliss and Darren Sheridan lead their team out as odds-on favourites for a match - but the price looks justified based on all the information available ahead of the game. Altrincham have only won three league matches away from home this season although they can boast a 2-0 win from the reverse of this fixture earlier in the campaign. The Robins have conceded an average of nearly 2.5 goals per game on the road so Barrow can be hopeful of finding the net at least once. Not many teams get change out of the home defence at Holker Street and that's evidenced by their place of ninth in the ‘fewest home goals conceded' table - a stat belying their position in the table that counts! A home win looks the best call here with 2-0 on the ‘Correct Score' market paying an attractive 7/1.

Elsewhere on the same night Crawley Town can take another step towards the league title with an away win at Kidderminster Harriers. The Red Devils are the Evens favourites to win at Aggborough - but it looks a match that is far from easy for the 1/9 Blue Square Bet Premier favourites. Steve Burr's Harriers have been in fantastic form and can boast a 1-1 draw at Luton Town from their previous outing. That extended their unbeaten run to nine games and they are now favoured for a top five finish and a place in the play-offs. A home win is priced at 23/10, but the better bet could be a draw at 12/5 which would not be a big disappointment for either team. Kiddy's weekend result at Kenilworth Road was the fifth time this season that Luton Town have failed to win at home when odds-on. In which case punters may be very wary when faced with odds of 4/11 for The Hatters to beat Tamworth this week. Richard Money's team have only won four of their last ten matches in the league and have consequently drifted in the title market. They could, and should, get back on track here but the price will only appeal to accumulator fans.

Gateshead and Darlington meet in an important league fixture at the International Stadium ahead of their two-legged FA Trophy semi-final. Both harbour outside hopes of a play-off place and a win for the away side at 17/10 would put them in an especially good position. Mark Cooper's team have moved from 13th spot up to eighth in the table with a run comprising of just one defeat in 12 league matches. Gateshead had a 100% record in February which led to a ‘manager of the month' award for boss Ian Bogie but March has started with just one point from a possible six. The Heed are 13/10 to get back to winning ways here but again the draw price looks the value call at 12/5. Eastbourne Borough registered back-to-back wins for the first time since September at the weekend and now aim to win three on the bounce for the first time since January 2009 with a difficult trip to Wrexham. A home win is priced at a very short 4/11, with a draw at 10/3 and a shock win for the Sussex club offered at 6/1. Rushden & Diamonds let odds-on backers down at home to Hayes & Yeading United on Saturday but have the chance to redeem themselves at a price of 8/13 when hosting Forest Green Rovers.
