Blue Square Bet Premier & FA Trophy weekend betting preview by Alan Alger from Blue Square

Crawley Town were shortened into 2/7 favourites (from 2/5) for the Blue Square Bet Premier title after their valuable win over Southport in midweek. That was the first of four straight home games for Steve Evans' team and the second match in that run comes on Saturday when Barrow are the visitors to the Broadfield Stadium. Coincidentally Crawley are also 2/7 to win this match and extend their 100% home record against teams 10th or lower in the table. With Barrow bottom of the away standings and yet to register a win away from Holker Street it does look like an accumulator banker. The sides did draw 1-1 in the reverse fixture but Evans' team look more settled since and shouldn't make any mistake.

If Crawley are the first click on all accumulator bets this weekend then punters might also be tempted by two other matches in the division with similar prices. AFC Wimbledon and Fleetwood Town are both priced at 1/3 for their home matches with Altrincham and Eastbourne Borough respectively. The Wombles need to bounce back from their midweek defeat at home to Wrexham which has caused a big drift in their title price. Altrincham are stuck in the relegation zone and have lost ten of their 16 away matches already this season, seven of which without scoring a goal. Eastbourne could be in for a long and fruitless trip to the North West considering they haven't won in their last 19 league games. Those interested in the ‘odds-on home treble' of Crawley, AFC Wimbledon and Fleetwood can back it at just over 5/4 with Blue Square - experience tells us that these bets are never as easy as they sound though, particularly in this tough division.

Kidderminster Harriers welcome Wrexham to Aggborough in the game of the day - a real play-off ‘six pointer'. Whilst the title contest is possibly narrowing into a two horse race - the chase for a top five finish could concern as many as ten clubs. Wrexham got over their 7-2 blip at home to Gateshead with a clean-sheet and a win at AFC Wimbledon. They still have an outside hope of the title but a win here would go a long way to extending their season at the very least. Steve Burr's Harriers are the ever so slight 7/5 favourites with an away win offered at 8/5.

Elsewhere in the division Rushden & Diamonds have been well backed from 6/5 into Evens to win at Histon. Newport are now 7/5 favourites to win at Kettering - who have one of the worst home records in the league. Bath City can return to winning ways with a home win over Southport at attractive odds of 4/5. Hayes & Yeading's recent wins over Southport and Histon have improved their survival chances but they are still 2/1 outsiders for the visit of York City. Tamworth halted a three game losing run with a 2-0 win at Barrow, victory at Forest Green Rovers at a price of 15/8 would almost ensure their safety for another season.

With the Blue Square Bet Premier play-off final moving to the ‘City of Manchester Stadium' for a year the prestigious FA Trophy competition provides clubs with their only chance of reaching Wembley this season. The ‘Quarter Finals' take place this weekend and 2/1 competition favourites Luton Town have a tough trip to Blue Square Bet North side Guiseley. With the Hatters likely to field a second string line up we've drifted them from 8/11 to 4/5 to win this tie in 90 minutes. Gateshead look like they have a decent chance to win at Blyth Spartans in another ‘North v Premier' encounter. An away win is on offer at an appealing 10/11. Salisbury have had a great run in the competition and are not without a chance at Darlington despite their price of 5/1. Mansfield shouldn't make any mistakes at Chasetown at a short price of 4/6.

ALAN'S BEST WEEKEND TREBLE

GATESHEAD to win at Blyth Spartans

BATH CITY to beat Southport

YORK CITY to win at Hayes & Yeading United
