Crawley Town v AFC Wimbledon - Live Blue Square Bet Premier match betting preview by Alan Alger from Blue Square

Newport County's victory at the Broadfield Stadium in October was the last time any team were successful against Crawley Town in a Blue Square Bet Premier match. That started an unbeaten league run for the Red Devils which currently stands at a club record 18 matches. All nine of their home games since that Newport defeat have been won with just eight goals conceded in the process. With Steve Evans' side well on course for the title Blue Square have decided that a win in tonight's match at home to AFC Wimbledon should result in them becoming champions and will pay out on all bets struck on the Sussex club. A home win is a best priced 8/13 with the league sponsors as we feel the visitors could have a big say tonight.

Terry Brown's team are the 9/2 outsiders to keep the title race alive, a draw is offered at 11/4. The Wombles will be seeking a double against Crawley after a hard fought 2-1 success in September. Danny Kedwell's 80th minute winner bringing the house down at Kingsmeadow after Matt Tubbs had put Crawley ahead in the first half. The leading strikers on each team have taken the division by storm over the last couple of seasons and should line up against each other tonight - selection permitting. If they do take part they'll both be looking to add to an incredible joint tally of 96 goals in non league's top-flight since August 2009. No wonder Evans made enquiries to pair them together earlier in the campaign. Our ‘Player Specials' on the Blue Square website pitch the forwards against each other. We offer 6/5 that Tubbs will outscore Kedwell on the night, the AFC Wimbledon striker is 11/2 to win the ‘Goalscorer Matchbet'. Kedwell is 2/1 to score at anytime on the night and that looks a great bet amongst the markets on offer.

Saturday's focus in the Blue Square Bet Premier is firmly away from the title race as important matches in the relegation battle and race for the top five feature in a programme of eight 3pm fixtures. The pick of the games could be at Highbury where Fleetwood Town host Wrexham in a real play-off six-pointer. The Welsh side are nicely settled in fourth spot and look on course for an extended season but the home side could move within six points of them with a win at odds of 11/8. Dean Saunders' team have only won three of their last eight games and are priced at 13/8 to improve those stats to four in nine. A draw looks best here at 12/5.

Some lucky punters are holding bets at odds of over 40/1 for York City to be promoted after taking a view earlier in the season that things could only get better at Bootham Crescent. That price is down to 11/1 now after their incredible rise from 19th spot to sixth under the stewardship of Gary Mills. The Minstermen travel to Cambridge on Saturday with Blue Square offering a price of Evens that they continue their good run. The home side have only been beaten once in their last five games but also have only won once in 13 fixtures. According to some observers at the match they were the better side in the draw against Luton Town in midweek and are 9/4 to get back to winning ways here.

Grimsby were 2-1 down against Rushden when their game was abandoned on Tuesday, much to the chagrin of Diamonds' boss Justin Edinburgh. Comments after the game suggest Rushden were very good value for their lead before it was stopped so Grimsby will have to improve this weekend if they are to continue their play-off charge. The Mariners are 6/4 to win at Bath City on Saturday with the home side offered at the same price. Bath are having a tremendous first season in the Blue Square Bet Premier after winning the South play-offs last season. They are probably too far away to claim the coveted fifth place but can hold their heads high if they maintain their 1.3 points per game record. I see one more point being added to their total here with a draw at 23/10.

Rushden will look to make up for the disappointment of their abandoned outing at Grimsby with a home win over Southport at odds of 4/7. A win for Tamworth at Altrincham would stave off any relegation fears for the Midlands outfit. An away win is 17/10 with an Altrincham victory at 13/10 - it's a must win game for Alty who could find themselves as much as six points off safety if results go against them at the weekend. Eastbourne Borough couldn't build on back-to-back wins achieved a few weeks ago and promptly lost their next two fixtures. A home match against poor travelers Barrow could be just the ticket at 13/10 this weekend. Newport County won for the first time this year as they beat Altrincham 2-1 at home last week and I expect them to make that two-from-two with a win at Forest Green Rovers at odds of 7/5. We can't split Hayes & Yeading and Kettering for their game at Church Road and offer 6/4 each team.

Meanwhile the FA Trophy semi-finals are at the second-leg stage and both away teams for the weekend matches hold narrow one goal advantages. Mansfield could complete the double over Luton Town at a big price of 3/1 for their game at Kenilworth Road. Outright tip Gateshead are 6/4 to beat Darlington - who are 3-2 up from the first-leg.

Despite winning all three fixtures, Crawley Town have conceded two goals a game in home matches against Barrow, Wrexham and Hayes & Yeading since mid February. Their defence has held up well in the majority of the campaign - as a goals against figure in the league table of just 25 proves. It's a possibility that Crawley are approaching those home matches with an attitude focused towards attacking which may leave them vulnerable at the other end of the pitch. They've conceded early goals a few times this season and it's not improbable that the away side get off the mark quickly. Any goal (for either team) before the 27th minute is available at an attractive price of 5/6. Blue Square offer a huge 20/1 that AFC Wimbledon can come from behind, as they did earlier in the season, to win this match.
