Beswick On Kettering

Friday Oct 19, 2018

 Improved effort on Tuesday night!

Lambs Skipper Ryan Beswick caught up with Matt Panter of The Tamworth Herald this week, and opened up about the disappointment of the Redditch game, and in particular, the stern criticism of the team from Manager Dennis Greene afterwards. “We needed it, a kick up the backside" Beswick said. “At clubs, some lads might like to have an arm around them at times. But, as a group, we needed that criticism because that second half against Redditch was not acceptable."

Beswick continued “It was actually the strangest feeling I have had after a game. We were dominant in the first half and should have been out of sight. But the second half collapse was ridiculous, something I have never seen before. We heard what the fans thought and the dressing room afterwards was not a good place to be."

Beswick however was pleased with the reaction on Tuesday night “Kettering was better and perhaps we are starting to build" he said. “We have a good group of players but we have not got the know how when it comes to winning games. For me, that comes down to the basics of working hard and being hard to beat. The gaffer is installing the work ethic he wants into us so hopefully it will pay off soon."

“I thought Kettering was a lot better, especially off the ball. We have worked on a lot of stuff since the gaffer has come in. He has talked a lot about our ‘off the ball’ shape and how we defend as a team. It’s starting to pay dividends. That’s our second clean sheet now which is always a good basis.”
