Beswick Has His Say

 Ryan on winning run!

Lambs midfielder Ryan Beswick caught up with Matt Panter of the Tamworth Herald this week to share his thoughts on our recent good run of form. Ten points from a possible twelve since Gary Smith and Andrew Danylyszyn took over as the interim management team have seen Tamworth move up to 13th in the table, just four points off the top ten.

And, although a tall order, Beswick says the side should be looking even beyond the top ten. “We have said we will take each game as it comes but it’s not unrealistic to look right up,” he said. “We are playing well. That’s two good wins in a row now against teams who are flying. As we have seen, everyone beats each other in this league."

Beswick continued “Stourbridge wouldn’t have come here expecting to get turned over but it happens. It’s a crazy league. Apart from Kettering who look like they are steaming ahead now, and Stourbridge, the rest are beating each other and no one is going on big winning runs where no one can catch them. We don’t want to jump too far ahead of ourselves but it’s nice to have a look and think about the top half again, it’s been a while. The club as a whole, from the last two years, has been down in the dumps. It’s been brilliant to see the fans happy. It’s a good feeling when things are going well.”

Beswick says the current success is down to a more united group. “We have been more organised and we have been given a structure to play in and out of possession,” he said. "We are a great bunch of lads, we have got some quality players and we just needed an extra bit of guidance as a team to get us flying up the table and getting good results. It might not sound hard but it’s a tough thing to do as a manager - to get all 11 players singing off the same hymn sheet. Gary (Smith) and Andrew (Danylyszyn) have managed to do that so it has been brilliant to be fair.”

Beswick has played a key role in the last two wins against Coalville and Stourbridge, providing two last-minute assists for Tyrell Waite. “I just said to Ty in the dressing room, he can buy me a beer!” said Beswick. “Two weeks in a row, he’s got on the end of a set-piece and fair play to him for keep going because he’s had a few chances recently. We have been giving him stick about his lack of goals but he’s come through again and I’m pleased for him.”
