Back into League Action on Tuesday Evening

Sunday Oct 20, 2019

The Lambs are in Bet Victor Southern Premier Central league action at Stratford Town on Tuesday evening (KO 7.45).

This is an important fixture in our quest for league honours this season. Here we look at the back ground to the match and provide all the information you need if you are travelling to the game.

Tamworth travel to Stratford Town on Tuesday evening, a game that will have particular significance for a number of the Tamworth team who played for the Bards Boys last season. Tom Baillie was Stratford’s Manager last term and Chris Cox, Jimmy Fry were squad members. In addition Dan Creaney and Rich Walton spent time there on loan, And the links do not end there. Kyle Ambris recently signed for Stratford while another ex Lamb, Nabil Shariff, plies his trade for the Blues.
Former Tamworth striker Tommy Wright began the season as Manager of Stratford, but after a poor start, his tenure was brought to an end earlier this month. The team is currently being looked after by Paul Davies in a caretaker capacity. There has also been a big turn over of players with a number of new recruits joining the squad in recent weeks.
While Tamworth are in 2nd place in the league, Stratford lie in 16th place with 4 wins, 2 draws and 5 loses from their 11 games. Their last league game was against Lowestoft Town on 12 October which they lost 3 - 0 at home in front of a gate of 254. With Htichin Town beating Coalville Town on Monday evening, Tamworth will go top of the league if they win and Banbury fail to get a result at AFC Rushden and Diamonds.
Stratford did the double over Tamworth last season and the corresponding away game ended in a 2-1 win for the home side on 11 December.
