Asante On Partnership

Monday Sep 3, 2018

Akwasi confident due will bring goals!

Akwasi Asante is confident his partnership with Tyrell Waite will deliver the goals needed to fire Tamworth up the Southern Central League. The pair fired in pre-season but endured a frustrating opening couple of weeks of the campaign after Asante picked up an injury. He caught up with Matt Panter of the Tamworth Herald to share his thoughts on the early part of the season.

“Pre-season, I was really enjoying it,” he said. "I picked up a little knock in the opening week of the league season but luckily it wasn’t too serious. I’m back, looking after myself in order to keep fit and ready. I feel Tyrell Waite and I have got a partnership that comes natural. We haven’t got to work on it. Whenever I flick on he seems to be there and whenever he gets the ball I seem to be there. We have never played together before this season but I feel it’s a partnership that can click. Our main job now is to add the goals which I am confident we will do.”

Asante was delighted to see the Lambs pick up their first win on Tuesday night as they overcame Rushall 2-0.

“It’s nice to get back to winnings ways, you know,” said Asante. “We haven’t won this season but I think we have been a bit unfortunate. We have had a load of injuries but we are starting to get the team back together now. We have got the first win now and the lads are buzzing so it’s time to kick on."
