Academy Trials A Big Hit

Friday Apr 21, 2017

Local player compete for places at The Lamb!

During the Easter Holidays, players ranging from 12-18 have been trialing for places in our growing youth development section in the 2017/18 season.

First up were Scholarship trials on Thursday April 13th, which saw over 30 players aim to join the seven current U16's who had already secured a place in Mike Fowler's U19 squad for next season.

Friday April 21st saw a staggering 91 players in the current U13/U14/U15 age groups showing their skills in front of Andy Morrell and Academy staff members. With the club launching teams into the Midland Junior Premier League at U14, U15, U16 and U18 next season, additional talented players were required to bolster the current squads.

On the trial process, Morrell said "We were pleasantly surprised by the high numbers attending both trials. It shows how interest in our programme is steadily growing locally. We started two years ago with the aim of the best local players aspiring to represent The Lambs, and are definitely getting closer to that goal."
