Academy Trial Information

Thursday Mar 30, 2017

Chance to join the club for talented current U13 to U17 players!

Tamworth FC will enter the Midland Junior Premier League at U14-U16 next season. The league features the youth sides of National League North divisional rivals Brackley Town and AFC Telford United, as well as development groups for professional clubs such as Shrewsbury Town and Coventry City.

Lambs General Manager George Delves said "This is something we have been looking at for a while, and it's the natural next step for the Academy. We entered this season at U18 via the Scholarship programme, but also put a pilot Academy group in at U16. Adam Wilkes has done a great job with the 16's, and we now feel ready to go ahead with U14-U18's next season, with potentially more on the way in 2018/19."

Local talented players will be able to trial for the above sides on Friday April 21st. Current U13's (next seasons U14's) will trial at 10.00am, current U14's (next seasons U15's) will trial at 12.00pm, and current U15's (next seasons U16's) will trial at 2.00pm. Please email to register your interest.

Additionally, Tamworth FC are also still recruiting for the September intake of the popular full time Football and Education Scholarship Programme, in partnership with industry leader VLUK.

Players combine daily technical, tactical, and physical training, with studying towards a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, which is the equivalent of 3 A Levels. Teams compete in The National League U19 Alliance, English Colleges League, and The Midland Junior Premier League, as well as regional and national cup competitions.

Lambs Assistant Manager and Scholarship Manager Mike Fowler said "We've already offered 10 places out for next season, but we still have availability for the right players. We are looking for talent on the pitch, but application in the classroom is equally important."

The likes of Jack Ryan, George Harding, James Neale, and Sam Watts have already featured for the U21 side this season, while Junior Mpofu has been named on the first team bench as well as U21 involvement.

Anyone interested in the next trial on Thursday April 13th at The Lamb should email We are mainly looking at those players currently in year 11, but have a limited number of places available for those currently in year 12.
