The next and possibly final 2010/11 academy intake trial will take place on the 29th of May at Rawletts High School. The trial will start at 10am.
With only 10 places remaining the competition for places is really heating up…
To be eligible…
...players must reach the age of 16 by the 31st of August 2010, and be no older than age 17 as of the 1st of September 2010. We have only 10 places remaining in this year's intake. The Academy team will play in the both the Football Conference Youth Alliance Leagues, along with teams such as Wimbledon, Oxford United, Wycombe Wanders, FC United, Tottenham Hotspur, Cambridge United & Charlton Athletic; and, the regional college/academy league structure, along with teams such as Nuneaton Town FC and Dudley Town FC.
Players will have a minimum of 6 hours football training / match time each week, with additional surpervised gym time. Training and matches take place in the day time, on weekdays, and fits in along side the education options provided. Typically players will join for 2 years (shorter and longer options are available based upon age and educational background), studying either Sport or Business.
During that time our coaching team, led by Dale Belford will use their skill and experience to develop each player; utilising there contacts with managers and relationships with clubs across the region to place players out on loan, to gain that invaluable experience of playing semi-pro adult football to aid there development.
Players joining the TFC Academy will be able to continue playing for their local junior league club, as indeed the majority of the current squad have. In the 2nd year of the academy programme, players will train at the same times as the 1st Team, presenting the potential for those with the talent and desire to train with professional players and the opportunity to earn a Tamworth Football Club 1st Team contract.
If you are interested in a position at the trial, please reserve a place with Helen Tocknell ( Tel: 0300 456 2424, Helen.Tocknell@southstaffs.ac.uk ). Academy staff will be available at the trial to discuss your playing aspirations and educational options.
