Morrell reflects on Salford victory!
manager Andy Morrell caught up with Matt Panter of the Tamworth Herald over the weekend to discuss an eleventh home league win of the season for The Lambs.
“There were some immense performances" he said. “The experienced players, the likes of Luke Jones, Paul Green and Ross Dyer, dragged the others through and the young lads around them really fed off that.
“The grit and determination in the group was great. They had the bit between their teeth right from the start. With the team we had to put out, all the setbacks we have had this week with players, we were delighted with the win. It was backs against the wall with Greeny having to slot in at left back and Jed Davies starting a game for the first time in a while."
While Danny Newton scored his seventeenth National League North goal of the season, Morrell felt the Lambs gritty performance was epitomised by opening goalscorer Connor Taylor.
“He has scored with a really good strike," said Morrell. “He is one of those lads who can pop up with a goal in the really important games. He was struggling with a back spasm in the week. He had a fitness test and just said: 'I'll play and see how far I can get'.
“That's the sort of character that we need here. He played through the pain and got his reward for doing that."
