21's Remain Unbeaten

Monday Oct 8, 2018

2-1 victory at Sutton on Saturday!

Ramzi Shaheen had the last word for Tamworth under-21s against his former club Sutton Coldfield on Saturday. The striker bagged a second-half brace to turn the game on its head after the Lambs trailed at half-time.

Tamworth controlled from the off and had the best of the first-half chances but couldn’t capitalise on their dominance. Dec Somel curled an effort narrowly wide before Shaheen had an effort cleared off the line. The front two of Shaheen and Tyrone Ofori ran the home side ragged as the Lambs pushed for opener but couldn’t manage the breakthrough.

And the visitors found themselves behind when Sutton Coldfield took the lead from a rare corner on the stroke of half-time.
Tamworth were determined not to let the game get away from them and came out in the second-half with a more attacking formation and an extra striker on the pitch in Callum Devlin.

The change paid off as the Lambs took a strangle hold of the game, rarely allowing Sutton Coldfield out of their own half. Ofori went closest when he cut inside from the right, but his low shot was well saved.

Midway into the second period, Tamworth made their dominance count. Ofori played a neat pass into Shaheen who slotted low to the keeper’s right to put the Lambs deservedly back on level terms. And just six minutes later, Shaheen was celebrating again – a marauding run and tidy pass from Somel was dispatched with ease by Shaheen to complete the Lambs’ turnaround.
