Lambs to launch full time training and education programme.
Tamworth Football Club is delighted to announce the launch of a full time training and education programme for 16-19 year old footballers. The programme will officially commence in September 2016, but recruitment begins immediately.
Players will combine daily technical, tactical, and physical training, with studying towards a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, which is the equivalent of 3 A Levels. Teams are set to compete in both The National League U19 Alliance and The Midland Junior Premier League, as well as regional and national cup competitions.
Lambs Assistant Manager Mike Fowler will be the Lead Coach. The UEFA A Licence holder explained “This is an exciting step forwards, and completes stage two of the youth development strategy that Andy Morrell and I set out when we joined the club. There will now be a full pathway from U8 to our first team.”
“We are committed to developing our own players, and have had some success this season with the likes of Jorna Moulton, Ryan Pace, and Mikey Wright moving from the U21’s to the first team, but we want more. The educational side is just as important though, and we will be placing a huge emphasis on developing individuals off the field as well as on it.”
Tamworth F.C. General Manager George Delves said that the club were delighted with their choice of education provider. “Since early this season, we have been meeting with various organisations with a view to setting this scheme up. VLUK stood out, as their delivery record with the likes of Crystal Palace, Portsmouth, Bury, and many non league clubs similar to ourselves is first class.”
“As well as developing playing ability, VLUK also have a great record of progressing players into University, Apprenticeships, College Scholarships in the USA, and many other positive destinations. We are all excited to start working with them.”
The first open trial for the programme will be on the evening of Friday April 8th, with further dates to follow. Players/parents should email email@example.com with a brief football CV including current team and preferred position to register for a trial place. Predicted GCSE grades should also be included for those players currently in year 11.
