 Southern League celebrates milestone!

On Friday 11th January 2019, 180 guests attended a celebratory lunch at the Madejski Stadium, Reading to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the meeting on 12 January 1894 in Billiter Coffee Rooms, Fenchurch Street, London where The Southern Football League was formed.

Guests from current Member Clubs were joined by representatives of Millwall FC, the winners of the first Championship, and Reading FC, a founder member, as well as The Football Association and other Leagues in the Pyramid.

Following formal toasts, Tony Adams MBE, the former Arsenal and England defender, entertained the audience with stories from his playing career as well as his current work with his charity, Sporting Chance. It was a glittering occasion, befitting the commemoration of 125 glorious years and an absolutely fabulous time was had by all.
