 Defender Kettle on upcoming games!

Lambs defender Joel Kettle caught up with Matt Panter of the Tamworth Herald this week. Kettle believes the FC United defeat should hit home to members of the squad who might have thought there was no danger.

“We can’t keep putting things down to bad luck,” he said. “It’s complacency, it’s individual mistakes. This is the business end of the season. It’s gone beyond the stage now where you can say, we’ll perform next week, or the one after. The group, this 16/17-man squad, have to realise what is at stake for Tamworth Football Club."

Kettle continued “We need everyone to realise the situation we are in and carve out the results we need. I hope it has hit home after the FC United game. We have gone ten to 15 games where we have said: ‘We’ll put a couple of wins together soon’ but it’s game time now, it’s live or die. We either stand up and be counted or we fold. It’s definitely not what I want to do and I know the manager (Mike Fowler) doesn’t.”

Kettle says the squad will need to lift themselves after their latest setback. “We are all disappointed but there are three games left and it’s still mathematically possible for us to stay up,” he said. "We need to rally and go again. We can’t throw in the towel. There are nine points at stake and we have to make sure we do our best to bring things home. We are going to need every single player in that dressing room to believe and deliver. We have to be as positive as we can now and go to Kidderminster and get a win.”
