Set pieces seal Cards win
29 January 2005
Two second half set pieces gave the home side a two-goal advantage against Tamworth at the Kingfield Stadium.
After a steady but generally uninspiring first half in which the Lambs' Mark Rawle had the only two efforts on goal - one well parried by home keeper Jalal and one that went just over the bar - Woking scored twice in the opening 11 minutes of the second period.
The first on 50 minutes came from Ian Selley's corner. Gary MacDonald headed the ball into the danger area and Luke Oliver stabbed the loose ball home from close range.
The second came on 56. Selley was again the provider with a pinpoint cross from a free kick on the right onto the head of Justin Richards which gave Chris Neal in the Lambs goal no chance.
Rawle tried his luck with a snapshot on 63 but fired wide and Dave Robinson's effort was on target but straight at Jalal on 75.
Jefferson Louis broke free for Woking with nine remaining and should have set up their third, but he was too selfish with the ball and wasted his shot when other options were open to him.
Tamworth threw on Tris Whitman and James Francis with just a few minutes remaining, and Francis won a free kick just outside the box with virtually his first touch. Marcus Ebdon floated the free kick to the far post and Dave Bampton powered his header home, but it was too late to be anything more than a consolation goal for the Lambs.
