Magnificent Lambs victorious at Underhill

FT: Barnet 0    3 Tamworth

18 December 2004

While the whole team received praise from Lambs boss Mark Cooper, celebrating his 36th birthday in North London, Tris Whitman was the deciding factor at league leaders Barnet.

His pace and trickiness resulted in Simon King's 22nd minute dismissal when the home defender brought him down en route to goal and a minute later he controlled a through ball from the Lambs defence and lifted it over home keeper Scott Tynan for a fantastic opener. 0-1
Whitman - Worked his socks off
Whitman caused problems for the home side throughout the game and was brought down by Dwane Lee on 29 mins. From Lee Colkin's free kick former Bee Matt Redmile nodded a header into the path of Bob Taylor who powerer home with his head from close range. 0-2

Taylor almost bagged his second with a deft header on 39, but with Tynan beaten Ian Hendon hoofed the ball away from danger and minutes later Kyle Storer just failed to connect with a left wing cross from Sekani Simpson.

Marcus Edbon's curled shot just cleared the upright six minutes after the restart before Kyle Storer showed why Cooper thinks he is going to be too good for the Conference soon.
Kyle Storer - too good?!
Picking the ball up on the edge of his own area while under pressure from the home side, Storer advanced over the half way line and threaded a glorious ball to Taylor who span round his defender and unleashed an unstoppable left foot shot into the bottom left hand corner. 0-3

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Barnet tried to push forward and showed a good deal of skill, but Tamworth were (to quote Cooper)
"solid. The lads did exactly as we asked. The harder we work the more 'luck' we get. Full credit goes to all the lads they were outstanding."

Guliani Graziloi had a well taken goal ruled out for offside on the hour mark and Taylor missed two chances to bag a hat-trick in the last 15 minutes.

Barnet boss Paul Faircough praised the Lambs after the game, saying: "They are the best side we have played this season - well disciplined and organised - I can have no complaints. A good side has ended our superb run and we can only come back stronger."
