Tamworth welcomed teams from the Tamworth Junior League to The Lamb for their final game of the season against bottom club, and already relegated, Hyde. With effectively nothing to play for but pride and definite 7th but possible 6th place, manager Andy Morrell made three changes to the side that had been roundly beaten by league leaders, but not yet champions, Barrow seven days previously. Dave Hibbert sat out with injury while Jon Adams and Conor Taylor took a place on the bench as Leon Mettam, Reece Styche and Jed Davies all came into the starting eleven.
After a minutes silence to remember the Bradford fire disaster victims, young football fanatic Alfie Young, former local Mile Oak manager Steve Brindley and those that lost their lives at Gallipoli, Tamworth kicked off attacking the Meadow Street End. Davies was upended as he made his way out of midfield inside the second minute to set up Mettam with a deadball that he smashed towards goal and forced Wilczynski to parry the ball over the bar. The corner was met by the head of Smith but he directed his header over the bar. The Lambs took the lead on 8 through Shane Clarke – his ninth of the season to bring him level with Jackson, Hibbert and Daniels – when Mettam crossed low from the right and the midfielder guided it low into the far left corner (1-0) Mettam was tripped on 23 and set himself up for another freekick from 30 yards out but failed to hit the target by some distance. Green was surprisingly not booked for a blocking challenge on the half way line on 26 and Sampson coped admirably with the long freekick. Smith rose high to head over the bar from a left sided freekick on 29 after Styche had been pulled to the ground and at the other end the defender nodded the ball back to Belshaw as the visitors pushed forwards. Hyde won a corner via a powerful Green clearance on 36 and although it went long, another on the came on the clubhouse side which Sampson eventually booted way from danger. James hit a low strike from 20 yards on 42 but it was east for The Tigers keeper and that was the last of the action in the first half.

Hyde restarted the second half and Tamworth kicked towards the Castle End. Mettam got his head onto a cross from the left on 48 but it dropped just wide of the near post. A threaded ball to Jackson on 53 allowed him to shoot at the right hand post side of the target but his effort was blocked for a corner which went long towards the clubhouse where Styche was fouled. Mettam took the freekick and he floated the ball over the top of the keeper into the far corner. (2-0) Tamworth added another on 59 when Styche fired a freekick from just outside the area inside the right hand upright (3-0) and Styche clipped the outside of the left hand post with a lob over the keeper from the left of the box after good work from Davies on 62. There was a rare shot from the visitors on 66 when captain Brizell hit a long range effort. But it was 4-0 on 68 when Taylor netted with a close range finish from a ball from the left from Mettam that Clarke couldn't quite reach. Clarke was upended on 70 and Ng was shown the yellow card. James and Green lined up the deadball and the former struck the wall. Styche and Masterton were both booked for a altercation and Thornton replaced Davies on 73. Masterton was booked for the second time on 77 and so was sent off for his troubles. Mettam notched his second on 79 after work from Styche down the left allowed his a side footed finish from close range (5-0) and Green tried to add another on 84 with a right footed shot from distance but cleared the target by a few feet. Captain Green was roundly applauded off the field on 85 and the game ended soon after with a lap of honour from the Lambs and management and back room staff.
