Lambs Heeds are down
05 April 2014
Former Lambs boss Gary Mills' promotion-chasing Gateshead stuck three late goals past Cameron Belford, making his 50th appearance for The Lambs, at the International Stadium to leave Dale Belford's side nine points from safety with five games remaining and a trip to top of the table Luton on Tuesday night.
Jamie Chandler struck in the first half, drilling the ball in from the edge of the area after a neat pass from John Oster to make it 1-0 to The Heed on 32 and give the home side the edge at the break.
Rob Ramshaw then fired low after collecting James Marwood's flicked ball to give the home side a 2-0 lead on 72 shortly after The Lambs had been bouyed by the return of Chadwick after nearly nine games out through injury.
But Marcus Maddison picked up Chandler's through pass to slot home on 89 and make it 3-0 before Ramshaw's attempted cross made it four shortly after and Maddison stroked in a fifth to leave Tamworth with a very long journey home to reflect.
The result, Gateshead's fourth straight win, moved the home side to fourth in the table while Tamworth remain rooted in 23rd spot and with time not on their side.
