Lambs come back twice against Coasters
12 September 2015
Tamworth made the longish trip to Lancashire to face second placed Fylde who sat above the Lambs by virtue of more games won, rather than number of games lost as Tamworth came into the game looking to extend their unbeaten start to the seasons to nine games.
Morrell made two changes to the starting eleven that came back from a goal down to Stalybridge to secure their fourth draw on the bounce.
The home side got the game underway, and forced an early corner on the right which The Lambs strongly defended.
Durrell managed to prevent a Hinchliffe clearance going long and tried a quick shot from 25 yards on 5, but his shot went wide of the far post.
Tomassen struck low from 25 yards on 11 and Hinchliffe collected it with a low drop to the ground.
A foul on 14 set up Durrell with a freekick from the left of the D and the keeper spilled it but Clarke was adjudged to have handled the rebound and play was halted.
Dyer battled his way through only to be denied by Hinchliffe but as quick as The Lambs looked threatening Fylde countered through Dion Charles and he made light work of the back line before rifling home a shot from 18 yards to opening the scoring on 19. (0-1)
Holmes forced Belshaw to make a save at his near post on 26 and at the other end Newton connected in mid air with a Durrell corner, but there was a defender in the way.
Charles skipped around and into the box again on the half hour and squared the ball across the goal for Holmes past the far post, but Smith was in the way of his effort which went into the side netting anyway.
Newton was booked for a challenge on Hannigan in the Fylde area on 34. A Lambs corner from Durrell was cleared and Fylde looked dangerous on the resulting attack which forced a corner on 40, but it was cleared.
Durrell’s ball looking for Warlow at the far post on 42 was bundled away by the home keeper. One minute added time as shown at the end of the half which ended with the home side holding the upperhand.
The Lambs restarted proceedings and nearly equalises inside the first minute as Newton touched a Dyer nod down back t the keeper but something stronger may have beaten Hinchliffe.
Green found himself in space 25 yards out on 55 but curled his placed shot high over the target and on 58 Durrell struck from distance just wide of the left hand upright.
The Lambs continued to frustrate past the hour and Blinkhorn picked up a yellow for a foul on Smith on 63. After Morrell and Davies came onto the field, Durrell equalised after making a darting run into the left of the box and although Hinchliffe got a touch it nestled into the far corner (1-1, 67 mins)
Charles struck from 20 yards on 70 and forced Belshaw to push it over the bar for a right sided corner which was headed home by Blinkhorn from Baker’s corner (1-2, 71 mins)
The Lambs tried to get one back quickly but were foiled until Davies took the ball down the right and curled it into the path of Durrell in the centre of the park who advanced unhindered on 73 and prodded it past Hinchliffe for his second equaliser of the game. (2-2)
Preston denied a dangerous spell of Fylde pressure with a boot to put the ball wide of the mark on 84 and the defender was on hand to block a Hughes cross from the right on 87 Dyer picked up a yellow card following a fracas on 89 and four minutes added time shown at the end of the game as both sides pushed for a winner but it didn’t come and both sides shared the spoils.
