Lambs bring a pont back from York

FT: York City 1    1 Tamworth

27 March 2010Without a goal in almost eight hours The Lambs faced a tough task against the promotion seeking Minstermen at Bootham Crescent but restricted the home side to a handful of half chances in the first half and created a few of their own.
Jake Sheridan sat out the second of a two game ban, and Michael Briscoe didn't feature still not fully recovered from his ankle injury.
There was little to choose between the two sides in the first 45 minutes and had captain Chris Smith been able to keep his feet he would have had just keeper, Michael Ingram, to beat after a quarter of an hour.
A great ball from Richard Tait was met with a good header by Alex Rodman's on the half hour but he couldn;t keep it down and Isyeden Christie failed to hit the target when the ball ran free for him inside the area on 39.
At the other end Danny Alcock had little to do, but what he did do he did well.
Paul Harsley swept a right footed chance over the bar from 8 yards on 29 for the home side and James Meredith also cleared the Lambs woodwork with a blazed shot just before the break.

HT: York City 0    0 Tamworth

Chances were limited in the second half, but York capitalised on early pressure taking the lead on 56.
A similar cross to that which saw Rodman head over in the first half came from Courtney Pitt and Luke Graham powered a downward header in to the net (0-1, 56 mins)
Tamworth made three changes to the side and worked hard to clip the wings of York who threatened a lot but rarely produced in the final third. And so as the game went on The Lambs confindence grew and they earned themselves a much needed point 8 minutes from time when Richard Tait sent over a deep cross to the far post and former York City player Chris Smith followed in to slam home Michael Wylde's header which had been blocked on the line by Ingham. (1-1, 82 mins)

We would like to thank the 136 TFC fans, who were able to travel, for their support at the game today and look forward to seeing everyone at The Lamb against Barrow next Saturday.
