Another goalless point for The Lambs
20 March 2012
The Lambs welcomed the Harriers to Tamworth for the re-arranged league game - cold weather postponed it first time around - with both looking to get back to regular winning ways.
Marcus Law made one change to the side that had drawn with Grimsby at the weekend - Connor Taylor making way for Jean-Paul Marna in attack.
Steve Burr's Kidderminster side featured five ex-Lambs and one not in the line up who all got a warm welcome on their return.
The visitors, decked out in gold and blue got the game underway kicking towards the Meadow Street end and it looked almost like a pair of Lambs back lines across the field with Tait and Barrow and Green all in midfield.
Harriers won a corner inside the third minute and Malbon flashed a header past the far post and then as the clock ticked from 3 to 4 a Lambs milestone passed as the 400th minute passed over without a goal being scored.
Malbon though almost notched one, getting on to a flicked ball through a gaping hole in the Lambs defence to flick the ball over the bar.
Johnson forced a good close range save from Hedge on 12 and from the corner Kidderminster managed not to score despite not less than four players having the ball a few yards from goal. In the end Malbon was the last player not to score, seeing his close range shot scrambled away after the Lambs defence on the line finally managed to get something on the ricocheting ball.
On 16 Marna slipped the ball across the box for Patterson to strike for goal but his shot came back off a covering defender and the chance was gone.
A couple of minutes later Patterson fired diagonally across the box from the right hand side but failed to test Breeden and the keeper was happy to watch it go out past his far post.
On 23 Guinan missed a golden chance by putting the ball over the bar from a yard out after Johnson's low ball from the left appeared to have set him up perfectly.
Jones put a header off target and won a corner on 25 which was met by Marshall but his effort was ruled out for a push in the box.
A storming run and left foot strike from Patterson on 28 clipped the top of the bar although the crowd thought Breeden had managed to get his fingertips to it, but the referee denied him the glory of the save.
Kiddy missed another two chances in quick succession just past the half hour mark - first Guinan flicked the ball back across the face of goal but found Hedge in the way and when Malbon followed up it was somehow blocked on the line and cleared to keep the score level.
Green tried his luck from distance but only managed to clear the bar and hit then Marna went through on the right of the box but miss hit his shot and Breeden had an easy save to make.
Patterson tried to released Tait down the middle on 42 but the defender couldn't get to the ball in time and Breeden gathered and the keeper did the same with Marna's tame shot 30 seconds later.
Guinan missed the target from a fairly open position on the right of Hedge's area shortly before two minutes added time was shown.
The Lambs kicked off part two towards the expectant Castle End and in the 53rd minute Patterson's run was blocked and the ball bounced off Marna into the grasp of Breeden while atthe other end Storer's driven shot was blocked by the dive of Oji.
After Tait had crossed for Barrow to head at Breeden on 56, Malbon got the better of Francis on the right wing and shot strongly at Hedge and Francis was unable to continue as the visitors lined up a corner so Courtney and Tait dropped into the back four and Reece took the right wing.
On 62 The Lambs increased their attacking nature with Barrow dropping back for Thomas to add spice to the left wing.
After Breeden had been forced to leave his area to head the ball away, Reece struck for goal from 25 yards but found the Kidderminster defence in the way and when Green followed in but his appeals for a penalty were quickly waved away by the referee.
Wright took to the field with friendly shouts from the Shed bouncing around the ground.
Byrne struck over the bar from distance on 70 and Malbon put the ball into the net with a sweeping volley from 30 yards but the whistle had blown long before his shot, and Hedge was happy to watch it drop into the far corner.
Oji was forced to concede a corner and Hedge made a good stop from the flag kick. Harriers won a corner on the opposite side which was worked around the box but came to nothing.
At the other end Marna missed the chance to chip Breeden from the left and from a similar position Thomas forced the keeper to tip his low shot around the far post for a corner.
Green was penalised for a push on Rowe on 80 and Hankin played the ball short to Storer but the defence pushed his away from goal and a challenge on Barrow by Hankin on the halfway line earned the player a booking on 82.
Hedge pushed a shot around the left hand post on 85 and Courtney headed the corner away as the visitors pushed forward as both sides made their final change.
Wright made headway from a Tamworth corner on 24 bursting up field and sliding the ball through to Rowe in the right channel, but his effort did not trouble Hedge.
Bradley struck for goal from 25 yards as the board went up to show 4 minutes added time, and Hedge spilled the effort but was protected by his defence as Wright tried to get to the rebound.
As the seconds ticked away the referee spotted an infringement on the left of the D and Barrow lined up his dead ball but could only find the wall and when the ball came back out to Tait he struck it over the target and the final whistle blew on another goalless draw with the total now standing at 486 minutes without a Lambs shot hitting the back of the net.
