Roms progress at Lambs expense

FT: Romulus 1    0 Tamworth

19 October 2015The Lambs fielded a mix of U21s and players needing match practise for this Birmingham Senior Cup fixture played on Sutton Coldfield Town's all weather pitch, home of ground sharing Romulus of the Evo Stick North.
The matchday programme listed dual registered Louis Ezewele as featuring for both sides, but he obviously didn't and took a place in the Lambs squad who played in the sky blue third kit against the home sides red and white strip.

The game itself did not really set the artifical pitch alight for the majority of the 90 minutes although the experience that the U21s gained against an obviously hungry and capable opposition will hopefully set them in good steed.
Captain for the night Mettam had the first real chance after just 4minutes but his shot was deflected and from the corner Millard headed over.
From then on it was a frustrating affair until just before the break when Lambs keeper Pond made a good save from Francis to leave it all square at the break, and the fans going in search of some warming sustinence during the interval.

HT: Romulus 0    0 Tamworth

Twelve minutes after the restart Romulus took the lead, and held it right through to the end without much in the way of trouble for home keeper and captain Gemmell.
The goal came following a very strong and tricky run down the left wing and along the touch line by Francis before his ball into the box was struck by Evans and the ball rebounded into the goal atthe far post. (0-1, 57 mins).
Romulus were reduced to ten men on 68 when Deakin raised his hands to Ezewele and a straight red card for the home number 10 was the only course of action available to the referee. Ezewele also recieved a booking for his reaction.
Lee picked up a yellow when frustrations boiled over on 77 and it looked like the home side were goig to add a second as the clock ran down, but Pond was out quickly to deny Roms sub Grandison to kep it at 1-0 and halt The Lambs run in the competition at the first hurdle for the second season running.
