Lambs comeback again for victory
25 November 2014
After the heroics of the last minute winner at Hednesford at the weekend Andy Morrell’s men welcomed Brackley Town to The Lamb and the boss made one change with Josh Sampson taking a place on the bench as Javan Vidal came into the starting eleven.
On a slippy pitch the canary yellow kitted Brackley Town side got the game underway attacking the Castle End, but with up to eight men behind the ball when the visitors tried to get near Belshaw’s goal in the opening ten minutes, there was little to report in the way of attacking options from Brackley.
Nelson-Addy made in roads to the edge of the box from the half way line on 11 but his low shot was easy for Belshaw to take low to the keeper’s right.
Belshaw was left unprotected by his defence on 14 when Nelson-Addy made light work of finding space on the right of the Brackley midfield to thread the ball through to Green who beat the offside trap and slotted the ball under the keeper from 12 yards (0-1, 14 mins)
Trainer found himself in a position to hit a rare unhindered forward position to shoot on goal on 24 from around 18 yards out and forced Snedker to smother his driven effort.
First change of the evening was for the visitors, as McDonald was deemed unable to continue on 36.
Daniels struck from distance but lifted the ball high over the target on 38 and a corner as forthcoming on 42 from Hibbert’s shot on the turn.
Daniels flag kick fell quickly to Clarke, but his snap shot was blocked and cleared for a throw on the opposite side. Styche forged an opening and beat his man to get a shot away on the right of the box on 44.
Another corner on the left came in and Trainer headed it toward goal but Samuels headed it away off the line.
After a change of personnel at the break with Jackson replacing Trainer and he forced a corner with a deflected shot on 47.
The corner came in but got stuck in the feet of The Lambs in the box and was eventually cleared.
A free kick on the left came back out for Clarke on 48 and Snedker was forced to push the ball over the bar from his dipping effort – from the corner Hibbert headed wide when it seemed to be harder to miss than hit the target.
Green was denied a clean shot on target by Belshaw on 53 and Nelson-Addy’s follow up was pushed away from danger by the keeper at full stretch and keep the visitor’s advantage a slender one.
TJ’s ball from the left squirmed through the Brackley box on 59 and out for a goal kick. Styche entered the box on 64 and was upended by the keeper as he went for the diagonal ball, setting up the Lambs number 10 from the penalty spot but he lifted the free shot over the cross bar to keep the scoreline in the visitors favour.
Belshaw leapt full length to push sub Curtis’ left footed strike down and take the power and direction off it on 71.
Then on 75, Jackson levelled the tie with a shot inside the area following a great through ball from Vidal to Clarke to the former who struck and saw his shot go over the keeper via with the aid of a slight defelction (1-1)
With 82 on the clock and Daniels made it 2-1 to The Lambs after sustained pressure saw the ball rattle around the box and his shot deflect and rolled past Snedker into the bottom left hand corner (2-1)
Four minutes added time were shown at the end of the game and Daniels was replaced to a round of applause, by Taylor as did Hibbert who was replaced by Sampson before the final whistle blew on victory.
