Almond forced Belshaw to protect his near post with his feet following a low shot on 6. On 10 Bentham crossed for Tames but his header flicked past the post and the same player hit a low shot from distance which went wide of the right hand pots on 12.
Hibbert curled a shot high and wide of the same post at the other end on 13 and when a ball over the half way line found Hibbert he cut back but lifted his shot over the target from 12 yards out.
The opening goal of the afternoon came for The Lambs on 16 when a cross-come shot from Simmonds on the right hit the inside of the far post and went in (1-0) Thurston tested Belshaw with a low shot on 19 and on 24 Thornton fed Mettam who rounded the keeper and appeared to be tripped but no penalty was awarded.
Sleath’s shot forced O’Brien to tip it over the bar for a corner on 27 but the keeper was equal to the resulting shot from Thornton.
A long range shot from Thurston could have been dangerous for Belshaw on the half hour but it span off his boot high and wide of the target, and Green blocked Almond’s shot on 31. O’Connor was booked on 33 for a foul on Simmonds in front of the away dug out and when Simmonds took the ball past O’Brien on 37 it took a great tackle from Brownhill to deny the second goal of the game.
Jackson finished a volley into the far corner on 43 but was denied by the linesman’s flag and Sleath’s cross swirled in the wind. Hyde equalised on 45 from Bentham's left wing cross which Tames headed home from a central position (1-1) and 1 minute added time was shown.

Almonds tried to slip a low shot inside the left hand upright on 57 and Belshaw had to put it around the post for a corner which resulted in a second one which was hoofed clear by Townsend and Townsend was well placed again to deny Almond’s cross on 59.
Another corner came for Hyde on 60 and Menagh’s ball was cleared to Simmonds who tried to find Mettam but his cross was too deep.
Bentham span a shot wide of Belshaw’s target on 61 and Almond struck low again but shot wide again on 62. Belshaw denied Tames with a good dive at full length to his left on 67 and Hibbert had to go off to be replaced by Taylor a minute later.

A left hand channel dead ball for The Lambs was a life line on 86 as both Green and Thornton lined up the chance which the latter struck into the wall and Green followed up with a low shot into the bottom left hand corner from 20 yards out. (2-2, 86 mins)
Taylor forced a corner with a low shot to the left of the goal which O’Brien tipped behind but came to nothing and Jackson tried a shot from the left of the box but it was too strong and lifted over the target.
