FT: Guiseley 2    2 Tamworth

04 October 2014

The early exchanges of the game were played in the Guiseley half as the Lambs enjoyed plenty of possesion without creating too many chances. In the 9th minute after Leon Mettam laid a ball back into his path Connor Taylor hit a weak shot wide of the right hand post.
Guiseleys first chance came two minutes later when Tom James who was setting in well lost possession allowing the home side to break forward down the right, the ball was played inside allowing a shot to be made from the edge of the box whick luckily for the Lambs went wide of the left hand post.
It took 15 minutes for the fans to see a corner and it went to Guiseley, a minute later former Barrow striker Adam Boyes was allowed a free run after a ball from the back caught the back line out. Boyes took the ball on and from the left hand side of the box slipped the ball past the advancing Belshaw who had no chaance with the shot.
The goal was against the run of play but the Lambs kept on pressing, in the 26th min a Daniels free kick after Jackson had been fouled saw the ball placed into the six yard box but it was missed by the forward players and was cleared.
Second corner of the game went to the Lamb just after the half hour mark but Daniels kick from the right failed to beat the first defender who headed clear. Guiseley created another scoring chance when another through ball was met by a Guiseley player who took too much time and lost the chance to put his side two up.
In the 43rd minute Leon Mettam had two chances when in a goal mouth scramble his first effort was blocked, Rob Purdie tried to follow up but his effort was also blocked the rebound fell to Leon whose first time effort went just wide of the right hand post.
Guisely made a substition in the 44th minute when Josh Wilson was helped off the field in obvious discomfort and he was replaced by Danny Forrest.
Just before the half time whistle Dan Preston commited a foul and from the free kick Guisely's Centre Back Danny Harris rose to head across the Lambs six yard box but his team mates were not on hand to make a tap in.

The Lambs made no changes at half time, Belshaw was soon in action when in the 47th min he made a good save to deny Wayne Brooksby, Leon Mettam saw a 25 yard effort sting the fingers off Steven Drench but despite dropping the ball no one was on hand to stab home from close range.
Preston conceded a free kick on the edge of the D when the ball bounced up and hit his hand, the free kick from the central position was deflected by the Lambs defensive wall but the ball fell to a Guiseley player who from the right hit a firm low shot which Belshaw did well to stop with a one handed save diving to his left.
Brendon Daniels was starting to fnd his range with the free kicks from around 30 yards when another from the right went straight to the back post and just missed the on rushing Connor Taylor and went out for a goal kick.
Seconds later another free kick from a similiar postion was easily taken by Steven Drenck the Guiseley keeper.
In the 63rd minute Belshaw was again the Lambs saviour when blocking a shot from 15 yards after a quick break created the chance.
Dave Hibbert came on for Taylor in the 64th minute and was soon in action when he his back-heel towards Kayden Jackson was intecepted by a defender who conced a corner in the process. Hibbert then went on a 30 yard run but his effort from edge of the box was blocked as was Kayden Jacksons follow up attempt.
In 72nd minute Jonathan Adams tried his luck with a 25 yard effort which he caught on the volley only to see his effort dip just over the crossbar. The chance was created by Hibbert who had kept a long ball in play and laid it to Adams.
Dominic Smith was booked in the 74th minute and two minutes later Guisley brought on Nicky Boshell for Gavin Rothery. Thev Guilsey Sub would eventually have a big part in the result of the game.
The Lambs were totally dominating the play with the ball rarely entering their half of the pitch but scoring chances were few and far apart. Kayden Jackson did well on the right beating the defender, breaking into the penalty box but his pass back inside was met by a defender who cleared.
Guiseley Captain Ben Parker was booked in the 80th minute and  from Daniels free kick the Lambs levelled the scoreline The free kick bounced off the crossbar and in an crowded goal mouth Jackson was on hand to get the ball  over the line.
In the 84th minute Danny Lowe was booked for pulling Leon Mettam back and again Daniles free kick ended with another Jackson goal. The keeper failed to hold the free kick as Kayden put the Lambs into a deserved lead.

With the Lambs looking to record their second League victory of the season two points were taken from them in the last minute of the four added minutes. Guiseley substitute Nick Boshell went on a run of the left of the penalty area, he lost control under pressure from Rob Purdie and kicked the ball out of play, with the ball out of play he went over and to every ones surprise including the home fans the Referee awarded a penalty. Guiseley fans even went onto twitter to apologise, how rare is that.
Boshell stepped up and hit the back of the net to give a final scoreline of 2-2.
The loss of two points dropped the Lambs into the relegation zone but with performances like this it can only be a temporary visit.
