Kelly unlocks Keys Park hosts
28 July 2012
It didn't take long for The Lambs to make their mark at Keys Park, as Marcus Law's pre-season preperations continued with a game against the Evostick Premier side as after just 9 minutes Marcus Kelly curled a glorious right footed freekick past Crane in the home goal to open the scoring. (1-0)
Hednesford look to get one back quickly, but Macpherson was unable to connect a header with a low cross.
Adam Cunnington saw his shot blocked for a corner on 17 and the home defense cleared strongly through former Lamb Francino Francis, in his first game in a Pitman shirt.
Kelly looked for his second of the afternoon but curled his effort over the bar on 20 and then, despite having a lot of the forward play, chances were rare.
That was until just before the break when Lee Hendrie's accurate ball through the middle allowed Kelly to run onto the chance and nip it past Crane and into the bottom right hand corner from the edge of the box (2-0)
Cunnington had an early sight of Crane's goal in the opening minutes of the second half but his powerful shot was parried away by the keeper.
Then on 54, Neil Harvey pulled one back for Hednesford courtesy of a close range finish from Sean O'Connor's low ball into his path in the box. (2-1)
Kyle Patterson entered the fray to get some more match minutes under his belt, but even his fresh legs were unable to add another goal so that's how it stayed until the final whistle, with only a handful of chances showing themselves for either side in an otherwise enjoyable run out.
The only downside to the game was seeing Hendrie having to be helped from the field in the last minute following a heavy challenge.
