Bradley strike nets three points for Lambs

FT: Tamworth 1    0 Ebbsfleet United

16 August 2011

After Saturday's opening day draw at Holker Street, Marcus Law made one change to the starting eleven as Daniel Bradley came in for Liam McDonald.

The Lambs kicked off towards the Castle End and after a flurry of forward movement Hedge was forced to catch a cross at height.
Shortly afterwards a foul on Christie set up a dead ball but the chance was headed away and Francis got up high to power the ball away with a defensive header on 7.
A flashed shot from Herd skimmed off the heels of Barrow for a right sided corner in the next move  but a foul ended the play as quickly as it had started.
A fell worked move from Smith to Thomas and a deflection from his attempted shot back to Bradley ended with a rising shot from the Lambs midfielder and a round of applause from the home faithful as a goal would have been a worthy end to the spell of play on 11.
Green was spoken to for upending Willcock on 13 and from the freekick Shakes stole in at the far post but failed to get a touch on the dangerous ball in from the right.
A long range low freekick from Smith caused Welch to parry and collect the ball at the second attempt with Patterson bearing down on the keeper and when play switched quickly to the other end Barrow was on hand to clear his lines.
Green put a superbly timed tackle in to deny ‘Fleet's attack a chance of capitalising on a loose ball in the center of the D on 17.
A move starting with a Hedge throw to Cain then a Cain pass to Patterson and back to Cain almost saw the latter hit the target with a shot in the opposition area, but the ball skipped away and went out for a goal kick.
United won debatabed a corner which Green headed away and as the half way mark in the first period was reached Barrow ended another flowing passing move with a shot which was unfortunately for the Welshman, wildly off target.
Marwa was booked on 26 for a later challenge and a trick from Thomas earned a corner by the clubhouse on 27 which Francis headed goalward but a few feet over the crossbar.
Good interplay between Bradley and Cain on 29 saw the former hit a curling shot over the bar.
Cain was involved in more thoughtful forward play around 34, twice turning his covering defender inside out before losing possession as he entered the area and then with a low cross to Tait who had ventured into the box but was unable to control the chance with his back to goal.
The majority of the crowd couldn;t believe that The Lambs didn;t take the lead on 39 when a freekick fell to the feet of Kanyuka on 39 as with time and just the goalkeeper to beat from 6 yards he rolled his shot just wide of the left hand post.
Then on 40, Christie met a deep cross from the left with a cushioned header which went past the same upright and left the fans and some players with their heads in their hands once again.
Christie tried a dipping curling left footed shot from the right of the area on 43 but it dipped far too late to trouble Welch and then Christie took a shot in his stride and the ball went just wide of the right post after good play from the back to the front of the field.
One minute added time was shown at the end of the half which ended with an Ebbsfleet freekick, cleared by Barrow.

HT: Tamworth 0    0 Ebbsfleet United

The visitors started the second half with the floodlights now fully illuminating the Lamb and the first chance fell to Bradley who sprinted onto a fine through ball from Patterson and forced Welch to flip his angled left foot shot over the bar for a corner on the right. Kanyuka had the ball in the net fromm the flag kick but a foul ruled out the strike.
Another chance fell for Bradley on 52 but his shot on the turn in the area was deflected out for a corner and when the ball came in the Ebbsfleet defence coped with the pressure.
Hedge got his first real touch second half touch from a powerful shot a minute later from Herd and Thomas saw a gap at the Meadow Street end but his shot curled the wrong way and went out past the right hand post.
Green put the ball behind for a corner on 57 withh a well timed intervention and Tait then Barrow cleared away the danger before The Lambs made the first change of the evening with Shariff replacing Christie.
Thomas and Bradley exchanged passes on 62 as the ball moved into the area but the latter lifted his shot over the bar from a left angle.
United could and probably should have taken the lead on 64 but Enver-Marum's freeshot from the right of the area struck the underside of the bar and ricocheted back out before being forced behind for a corner and this added some impetus to both sides ventures towards goal.
Patterson found himself one on one with Welch but very close to the keeper on 70 and unable to thread the ball around him.
Then on 71 as the ball came back out of the area Bradley beat Welch with a slightly curling half volley off his right boots laces into the right of the net to give The Lambs the lead from 25 yards (1-0, 71 mins).
Sub Mills forced the visiting defence to be very quick off the mark to clear his low left wing cross away in the next move.
Smith released Cain down the right on 76 but his cross was headed back to him and his resultant shot off target with Patterson and Shariff both waiting in the area.
Green was adjudged to have climbed on Willcock on 80 to give Ebbsfleet a freekick 15 yards out in a slightly left of centre position but Hedge was equal to Enver-Marum's low effort.
As the final 10 minutes came into both sides made more changes and a cruel deflection from a shot that was going wide almost wrong footed Hedge but the ball whistled past the post off Willcock's thigh and the Lambs keeper defended his goal from another attack down the left channel on 88.
United forced a corner on 89 and Fakinos was unable to control the ball at the far post as four minutes added time was shown.
Tamworth were forced to concede a corner on the right on 93 and Enver-Marum got a shot away but cleared the target from 12 yards in the final action of the game.
