Brace for Barrow and choices for Law

FT: Heather St.Johns 2    2 Tamworth

09 July 2011

A Tamworth team made up of mainly trialists gave the numerous fans and enjoyable display at Heather, as boss Marcus Law looked on mindful of the decisions he will have to make on Sunday regarding the remaining places in his squad.

The only currently signed player, Scott Barrow, featured for the entire game and performed well, powering two first half goals home to give The Lambs the lead on 14 with a right footed low curling shot, and then equalising just before the break with a peak of a freekick from the left channel which curled inside the near post.

33 year old ex-Kettering player Ian Roper looked solid at the back against a spritely home attack for the most part but the Heather goals did come eventually - on 27 and 37 - the first another well struck freekick by ex-Lamb Chris Waldrum which gave 'keeper Andrews no chance and the second which saw the home striker advance from a position that was possibly offside before slotting home.

In the second half 18 year old ex-Wycombe striker Lee Weemes put in a very good shift and was unlucky not to get his rewards, while Alondo Lewis missed a golden opportunity to head home at the far post from Weemes' left wing cross, and was only able to chest the ball back to the opposition keeper instead.
