Lambs through to semis
13 February 2007 It took 120 minutes to find a winner but Tamworth emerged victorious at a drizzly rain swept Dales Lane. With a side that included Dave Bampton, Michael Tuohy, Ryan Laight and manager Gary Mills and with only John McGrath starting from Saturday's draw against Southport, Mills was able to put the rest of his squad through their paces. Rushall, the current holders of the cup, were not going to go down with out a battle but on a pitch that got gradually more muddy and slippy as the minutes ticked by it looked as though a solitary strike, low from the edge of the area, from McGrath on the half hour mark would see The Lambs through. However, a disastrous punched clearance from Dale Belford allowed Rob Holcroft the chance of slamming home an equaliser with 13 minutes remaining. It only took 5 minutes of extra time for Tamworth to regain the lead through Steve Burton who fired home a Jon Stevenson through ball and although The Lambs had to play the second period of extra time with only ten men after substitute Luke Keen hobbled off injured they managed to weather the olympic storm and progress to the Semi Finals and an away tie against Chasetown (date TBC).
