Lambs out of Staffs Senior

FT: 1    0 Tamworth

26 January 2006

A mix of youth and 'fringe' first teamers fell by a single goal to Stafford Rangers to go out of the Staffs Senior Cup on Thursday night at a cold Marsden Road and missed out on a tie against either Port Vale or Stoke City in the next round.

The only goal of the game came 5 minutes after half time when Danny Edwards fired home following a good move and cut in down the left by Jamie Pheonix which beat the Lambs defence.

Chances on goal in the first half were limited to long range efforts or speculative strikes - Mark Gayle made just three saves while Richard Dryden went closest at the other end with a header near the end of the frist period which flashed across the face of goal.

In the second half chances were few and far between but Cooper almost forced an equaliser at the death only to see his shot blocked and then scrambled away under pressure.
