Alsop makes his second debut at Common Road

FT: Evesham United 0    1 Tamworth

20 July 2005

Former Oxford striker Julian Alsop made a return to Tamworth FC in their second friendly of the 2005-6 campaign. (see separate story)

The game was won 1-0 by the Lambs thanks to a Jimmy Turner goal on the stroke of half time. Turner collected the ball advanced into the area and curled a low shot around the home keeper into the far post. Tamworth dominated the first 45 minutes with Alsop a target man.
Alsop had a handful of chances to break the first half deadlock before Turner's strike, as did Simon Hollis and Aaron Brown who saw his header cleared off the line with the Lambs looking organised and comfortable moving the ball around the field.

First Half:
Bacherini; Turner, Brown, Redmile, Bampton; Ward; Hollis, McAuley, Storer, Heggs; Alsop

Boss Mark Cooper made eleven changes for the second half and Evesham saw a bit more of the game. Tamworth came closest via Tris Whitman with a shot cleared off the line from a tight angle midway through the half.

Second Half:
Gayle; Houghton, Stamps, Munday, Vitaly; Dean Curtis, Sergiy, Johnson, Douglas; Taylor, Whitman
