"We should have won" says Cooper

FT: Tamworth 0    0 Stevenage Borough

28 March 2005

Tamworth dominated the second half of this Easter Monday tie and boss Mark Cooper was disappointed his side did not pick up the full three points. "The lads ran their hearts out and bringing on Tris Whitman and Clint Marcelle gave us an extra The Gaffa - 'disappointed' with a pointdimension which they struggled to cope with."

The visitors did look the stronger team in the first 45 minutes, and Darryn Stamp hit the crossbar with a header from a corner just before the break, while the closest the Lambs came was Matt Redmile heading Jude Stirling's cross over the bar on 18 minutes.

But in the second half Kyle Storer's cross just evaded Bob Taylor (48), Sekani Simpson shot wide from 25 yards (60), Redmile headed a Stirling throw past the post (61), Ebdon set up Adie Smith only to see 'keeper Alan Julian there first (73), Whitman's run and shot brough the best out of Julian (74), Morrison had a close range effort cleared off the line (80) and then bent his left foot half volley wide of the far post (81) and finally Ebdon's right foot shot was easy for Julian to smother.

"Stevenage will no doubt be there or there abouts as they are a big strong side. But there is no reason we can't keep this unbeaten run going until the end of the season", said Cooper. "If we continue playing as we have, I can't see us losing a game. I'm just disappointed we didn't score."
