'Shay'm, as Lambs force a draw.

FT: Halifax Town 3    3 Tamworth

25 March 2005

Tamworth welcomed back Marcus Ebdon and Adie Smith into the starting 11 who fought back to put a small dent in the Shaymen's promotion play-off hopes, almost ending the home side's eight-game unbeaten run in the process.

The Lambs took an early lead through a Matt Redmile header from a Marcus Ebdon free kick after five minutes. And then a far post Bob Taylor header (his 18th goal of the season) from Tris Whitman's cross after 13, put the Lambs seemingly in control but found themselves pegged back to 2-2 at the break.

Redmile's defensive header had to be tipped over by keeper Ryan Price for a Halifax corner and Greg Young headed home from the flag kick (39 minutes). And just as the referee was about to blow his half-time whistle Craig Midgley's shot bounced through the Lambs defence for Ryan Sugden to equalise from close range.

Adie Smith - scored the equaliserEleven minutes into the second half Midgley found a way through and delicately chipped over the advancing Price to put his side 3-2 ahead but Tamworth did not rest and were rewarded for their efforts when Adie Smith found himself in the box on the end of a Jude Stirling left wing cross and placed his header through the legs of keeper Ian Dunbavin.

Both sets of fans will argue their side was the better but both were treated to a great display of football which can only be a positive thing for the Lambs whose unbeaten run is now at six games and they keep showing that they can be a force to be reckoned with.
