Lambs defeat Druids

FT: Tamworth 3    0 Cefn Druids

27 July 2019

In stark contrast to the previous friendly away at Sutton Coldfield in midweek, the sunshine and heat had been replaced by pouring rain and a much colder afternoon at The Lamb as Tamworth welcomed the Cymru (Welsh) Premier side from Cefn Mawr.

Smith, Danylyszyn and Baillie fielded a side with just one change from that which started at Coles Lane as Reid came in for James. Before the league season starts you can register with 1XBet Coupon Code  to receive great offers.

With the rain still pouring onto the 3G surface Tamworth got the game underway attacking the Meadow Street end in the first half.
Tamworth took the lead on 4 when Creaney square the ball from the left of the box and Yafai slotted it home (1-0, 4 mins)
A deep freekick from Druids was spilled at height by Singh on 7 and Gough acrobatically cleared the Lambs lines.
From the ensuing break up field the final ball fell to Obeng who made no mistake with a tidy finish from 8 yards (2-0, 9 mins)
A threaded through ball to Creaney almost came off but his sliding touch to try and take it past the keeper on 15 didn’t quite go past the Druid’s number 1.
On 31 a through ball to Obeng resulted in a powerful shot from the right and forced a save from Jones in the Druids goal, however the corner skipped through without a touch.
With Druids captain Ashton shouting orders from the back the visitors started to exert some pressure on the Lambs and Kershaw hit a long range effort at Singh on 40, which the keeper caught. Simpson then met a right sided corner on 43 on the volley but cleared Sing’s car by a foot or two.
At the other end Obeng crossed from the right and Yafai lifted it over the target shortly before Kershaw was booked shortly before the half time whistle blew.

The visitors restarted proceedings after Tamworth had made a trio of changes.
Waite, Hoenes and Trialist B came on and Hoenes was quickly involved linking up with Yafai but found his path to goal and shot blocked.
B struck a low shot from the left of the area on 50 but it curled wide of the mark and Beswick tried a left sided freekick after Hoenes had been upended but found the wall in the way.
A druids freekick was met by the head of Trialist A on 56 and it span back to Singh. Singh then made a great stop which Ashton made a point of acknowledging and Tamworth made three further changes.
Tamworth extended the lead on 71 from the penalty spot when C was brought down as he entered the area from the left and Hoenes cooly fired it into the far right corner. (3-0, 71 mins)
James’s first time on the ball resulted in a freekick which Clement fired into the area but it was headed clear.
The visitors went close on 80 through Piskorski, his low drilled shot from the right going out past the far post.
As the minutes ticked on the same player hit a shot from the edge of the box which Singh dropped to smother it.
