Three goals for White and three points for Waders

FT: Biggleswade Town 3    0 Tamworth

19 January 2019

Tamworth travelled to Langdon Road to face Biggleswade Town on their own turf for the first time, and Lambs boss Dennis Greene welcomed back Ryan Beswick and Joe Magunda into first team league action after the midweek Staffs Senior Cup defeat.
On the bench, new signing Kieran Holsgrove joined The Lambs from Watford.

The Waders got the game underway and a great tackle by Smith prevented White from getting an early shot away.
The resulting corner fell to Longe-King and he lifted his shot from 12 yards high and wide over the goal and into the woods behind the goal.
Verma needed attention from the physio a couple of times inside the first five minutes and had to leave the field on 7 bringing Holsgrove on for his debut.
Dias then needed treatment but was able to continue for only a couple of minutes and Jemson came on. White had headed a cross from the right over the target on 10 but made no mistake on 14 when Nwaboukei flicked a header through the back line, White ran on and slotted the ball home from 18 yards. (0-1, 14 mins)
Smith, playing as centre back again, made a foray forwards on 18 and connected too well with a loose ball, sending it over the goal of Donkin.
At the other end Gent headed over the target from a well placed right wing cross on 24. Maphosa was booked for impeding a kick from Donlin on 25 as the keeper looked to send it long for the run of White.
McNamara tumbled over Beswick on the left on 28 and The Waders pushed forwards until Green and Maphosa were able to clear the danger.
Concannon’s ball through to Taylor seemed to have created an opening but the ball bobbled and Biggleswade survived.
A direct shot from Makoma on the half hour was hit straight at Simpson and then Taylor forced a corner on the left as Tamworth looked to get back into the game.
Beswick‘s deadball came out and Concannon’s cross was headed on target by Taylor but Donkin pushed it over the bar, and then Magunda saw his header headed away from under the bar.
Gough then did even better when, with Simpson stranded, he headed a goalbound lob from the home side away from under the bar.
Maphosa diverted Magunda’s drilled cross just wide of the far post on 38 and on 42 McNamara sent a low cross across the six yard box from the left for Bell but he missed the ball completely.
Five minutes added time was shown at the end of the half and White threaded the ball through to Makoma in the left of the box but his shot was wayward.
Makoma found McNamara with a low ball from the right in added time and his shot was parried well by Simpson. Tamworth pushed forward and Concannon tested Donkin with a low shot before the half tie whistle blew.

HT: Biggleswade Town 1    0 Tamworth

Tamworth restarted proceedings but the home side forced an early corner and The Lambs defence dealt with Walster’s flagkick.
Bradshaw hit a long range right footed drive at Simpson on 49 which the keeper caught at chest height but Simpson was unable to stop White firing his 12th goal of the season inside the far right hand post from the left of the area on 51. (0-2, 51 mins)
Smith moved from back to front after the goal and forced a corner on 57 which he nearly connected with but Biggleswade cleared the danger.
Gough and Nwaboukei got tangled on 63 but it handed the Waders a right sided freekick which Walster drove into the area and Magunda headed it away for a corner on the left which Nwakoubei directed wide of the far post with a glancing header.
Beswick pulled Nwboukei back on 67 and earned himself a booking and Bradshaw’s deadball from 35 yards was direct but also off way target.
Smith forced Gent to conceded a corner on the right on 69 but Biggleswade defended strongly and Holsgrove’s punted ball into the area was taken by Donkin.
Concannon hit a snap shot from the right of the D on 72 but it was well wide of the left hand upright.
At the other end, Simpson inexplicably left a ball going out for a corner to go out for the corner and Walster’s flagkick was glanced by the head of Gent wide of the mark.
Swathes of smoke from a fire near to the ground blew across the goal at Donkin’s end of the ground as the home side looked for a third of the afternoon at the other, including an attempted Rooney like mid air finish from McNamara on 78 which didn’t come off.
Longe-King was booked for a foul on Taylor but Donkin was equal to the ball in and Holsgrove struck a dipping volley from 20 yards over the target on 81.
White picked up the loose ball on 82 and was prevented from netting his hat-trick by a combination of two Lambs defenders, but the home side forced five corners in quick succession meaning Tamworth had to defend strongly in the final minutes.
Beswick sent a left sided corner in for Smith and his headed downwards was cleared away as four minutes added time was shown.
A right sided corner for The Lambs came to nothing and Biggleswade burst forwards but Brooks final ball was too strong and Simpson smothered it.
However, White burst through in the next move and slotted the ball past Simpson from the left of the area to secure the match ball. (0-3, 90 mins)
