Tamworth FC kick off their Southern Premier Division Central campaign on the 10th of August. The Lambs will embark on an away trip to St. Ives Town for their first match of the season as promotion to the National League is on the club’s mind. Non-league football fans can follow Tamworth’s first fixture of the season using the ComeOn Voucher Code on and wager on the team they believe will win the season opener.

 Tamworth FC Preseason Prep

The Lambs have already begun their preseason preparations with mixed results. Tamworth lost to Championship side West Brom Albion 4-2 in their first preseason fixture. The Lambs then defeated Leicester Nirvana in their second preseason friendly 2-0.

Tamworth are competing against a variety of opponents this summer prior to the Southern Premier Division Central campaign’s kickoff. The difficult fixtures against Football League teams should help the Lambs in their plight to gain promotion.

Joint managers Andrew Danylyszyn and Gary Smith will hope the strong competition that includes West Brom Albion and Aston Villa will make the Lambs stronger for the upcoming term.

 Players on Trial

With the Southern Premier Division Central season kicking off in less than a month, Tamworth are still piecing together their squad. Danylyszyn and Smith are looking at several trialists as the campaign comes into view with the idea of adding more quality to the squad.

Former Kidderminster and Leamington forward Ahmed Obeng is one player the managers are running the rule over. Obeng’s trial got off to a great start as he scored against West Brom Albion in preseason competition. Obeng came on as a second-half substitute to score for the Lambs. The Ghanaian forward is available on a free transfer following his departure from Leamington after three seasons.

The managers are also looking at a few other players including former Nuneaton Borough midfielder James Clifton. The midfielder was recently released by Alfreton. Ex-Stourbridge player Bilal Yafai is also on trial with the Lambs. Yafai featured against West Brom Albion in their 4-2 loss. The 23-year-old most recently played for Haverhill.

In addition, defender Marshall Willock, formerly of Chesterfield, and Steven Beejer are being looked at by the managerial duo.

One player that has already joined the club officially is striker Dan Creaney. The 24-year-old striker is full of potential. Creaney spent the second half of last term at Stratford on loan. Tamworth signed Creaney for an undisclosed fee from Coalville Town. Creaney scored 32 goals in 48 matches last season.

 A Busy Opening Week

Tamworth kick off the Southern Premier Division Central season against St. Ives Town before clashing with Bromsgrove Sporting three days later. The busy start to the season won’t stop there for the Lambs as they meet Peterborough Sports seven days following the campaign’s kick off.

Danylyszyn and Smith will lead the Lambs into a total of six fixtures in the month of August. All six matches will be played over the course of a 21-day period. It is a time frame that could make or break the Lambs’ season.
