St. Ives Town Match Preview

Monday Dec 17, 2018

Our Supporter - (car spare parts online)

The Lambs host St. Ives this Saturday in The Southern League Central Division so if you need an excuse to get out of Christmas shopping then pop down to The CR MOT Centre Community Stadium for the 3pm kick off.

This is the reverse fixture from the opening day back in August when The Lambs were on the wrong end of a 1-0 score line so the team will be looking to overturn that result and record a home win and a much needed 3 points as the busy Christmas period begins.

Tamworth are currently 13th in the league on 23 points. 7 points from the playoffs and 7 points above the relegation zone. With 12 points up for grabs in 11 days over the festive period the table could look very different in two weeks.
St. Ives sit two places below Tamworth, trailing by one point, but have a game in hand. That match is this Wednesday at Histon so they could come into the match on Saturday above The Lambs should they win that game.

Tamworth come into the match on the back of a weekend off but prior to that show inconsistent form. Following on from an undefeated run of 5 games in November, the team have lost two of their last three matches. The team have gained 7 points from our last five matches including 2 victories, one draw and two defeats. At home The Lambs have only managed 9 points from our 9 league games this season and need to improve this statistic if playoff dreams are to be achieved.

The Saints lost eight straight games from the start of October but have turned their form around more recently with three victories in their last 4 matches, including an impressive 3-0 away victory at league leaders Kettering. They have managed 10 points from their last five league fixtures (3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss) and away from home they have gained 10 points from eight games.

This looks like a tough game to call with not much between the two sides. Whichever team wins will be celebrating Christmas looking up towards the playoffs and looking forward to further improving their position on Boxing Day.
