Lambs rivalries renewed for next season.

Sunday May 19, 2019

The Evo-Stik Southern League announced the teams that will play in each league over the weekend.

Following a slight reshuffle of teams due to various promoted and relegated teams into Step 3, The Lambs now know who they will face in the Southern Central League Central Division for the 2019/20 season.

Interestingly it throws up two local derbies with both Nuneaton and Hednesford joining the league.

Nuneaton dropped out of the Conference North following a last place finish. Relegation was the culmination of a difficult season both on and off the pitch with a season low 19 points in the midst of many threats of insolvency and being wound up.

This renews The Lambs fierce rivalry with our neighbours 14 miles down the A5. A Boxing day defeat in the 2017/18 season was a particular low but was followed by a much needed 2-0 six days later on New Years Day 2018. The season before that saw Nuneaton do the double in a another Boxing Day / New Years Day double header with narrow 2-1 and 1-0 victories.

So Tamworth fans will be looking forward to the two matches this season as the most recent game ended in a Lambs victory.  Hednesford Town also join The Southern League Central Division after a one season side step exile in the Northern Premier League due to Shaw Lane going bust and Hednesford being the most northerly team able to join them. Hednesford had a mid table finish last season in a tough league.

After Hednesford’s move away from our league, in a twist of fate Tamworth drew Hednesford away last season in the FA Cup and after a very disappointing performance the Lambs crashed out of the cup to our rivals 2-0.

The last time Tamworth played Hednesford in the League was in the 2015/16 season in the Conference North. Tamworth won at home 1-0 but were narrowly defeated 2-1 away.

The Tamworth fans will be happy to renew this rivalry and will make the 16 mile trip in great numbers to support the team.

The question is which of these teams will be the Boxing Day game in 2019. This will be announced in mid June. As you could have noticed best online casinos in america, are now partnering with football clubs so that they can teach fans about responsible gambling.
