Football is Back and A Look at The Championship Week 1

Friday Aug 2, 2019

The Championship Season 2019/20 starts this evening when newly promoted Luton Town host Middlesbrough. It was not long ago that Luton were languishing in the Non-league Conference but now their fans can dream they are one good season away from the Premier League. Although this will be the dream, reality is that this season will be a success if Luton stay up in a very competitive Championship. Despite this Luton are favourites at home 11/8 with Middlesbrough 23/10 and the draw 23/10. It will not be easy to select a winner here, without any form or data to look at, so maybe looking at online casinos usa will be a better option. Middlesbrough will have Club legend Jonathan Woodgate at the helm and will hope to be able to improve on previous seasons and jump up into at least a play-off spot.

Elsewhere in the Championship, on Saturday an ex Premier League tie takes place when QPR travel to Stoke. Stoke will be 4/5 and QPR 17/4 with the draw 13/5. Both teams will be hoping for better seasons after disappointing mid table finishes last year.

Slaven Bilic restarts his managerial career in the Championship by taking his West Brom squad to midlands rivals Nottingham Forset. Both teams are former powerhouses who have struggled recently and both have new managers. Forest are 6/4 at home, the draw is 12/5 and The Baggies 2/1 to win away.

On Sunday, Bristol City welcome pre-season favourites Leeds United to Ashton Gate. Leeds manager Bielsa will want to overcome the massive disappointment of failing to gain promotion from such a strong position last year and gain an automatic spot this season. Leeds are favourites at 7/5 with Bristol 21/10 and the draw 5/2.

Finally, on Monday evening, play-off final losers Derby County will look to shake off the double disappointment of still being in the Championship and losing manager Frank Lampard by winning at relegated side Huddersfield. It will be a difficult task at The John Smith’s Stadium with Huddersfield 23/20 favourites, the draw 13/5 and Derby 5/2.

With all these matches looking close affairs it may be more sensible to let the season take shape for a few weeks before selecting winners and instead look at online gaming south africa instead.

With all the strong teams in the Championship, over three quarters of the teams having featured in the Premier League in the past, it is looking like each week there will be no easy games.
