Europa League Final

Friday May 24, 2019

An all English affair with Arsenal taking on London rivals Chelsea on Wednesday evening in the most remote of venues.

Fans of both London Clubs will make the long and difficult trip to Baku, Azerbaijan which is nearly 3,000 miles away. The fans can log on to https://www.pokiepop.com/en for some fun while making the trip.

Baku is one of the most Easterly points of Europe, further east than both Bagdad and The Lebanon and seems a very strange and moronic choice by EUFA to hold this final. The venue was decided a couple of years ago but whoever reached this prestigious match would have had a great deal of trouble travelling there. It looks an even worse decision now as both teams reside 7 miles from each other with fantastic neutral stadiums only a stone’s throw away such as Wembley, The London Stadium, Tottenham’s new stadium and even Twickenham! With all these state of the art arenas so close with easy transport routes, instead only very few and well off fans will make what can be over 24 hour journey to see the game.

The Baku stadium holds around 65,000 people but EUFA only gave the London Clubs 6,500 tickets each. Due to the difficulty in getting there, both Clubs may not use their allocation, which will mean the atmosphere will not be as it should. Sponsors and officials receive the rest of the tickets. If the game were in London then both teams could have filled Wembley themselves with their own fans.

Looking at the game itself, it will be difficult to select the victor. Bookmakers have Chelsea as the favourites at 7/5, with Arsenal 9/4 and the draw 23/10. Arsenal had the tougher route to the final but with both teams having finished their league fixtures two weeks previous and the semi finals before that, tiredness and form should not come into the equation.

In the Premier League this season, Arsenal won at home at The Emirates 2-0 in January and back in August at Stamford Bridge Chelsea came out on top 3-2. These statistics show how difficult it is to select a winner so it may be easier to look at top online casinos instead for fun.

The winner of the game receives a place in the money spinning Champions League next season. Chelsea already have secured this with their 4th place league finish. Arsenal on the other hand need the victory to gain access to the premier European Cup competition next season, so this could be the deciding factor as the Gunners have the extra motivation.

One small set of fans will make the long trip back to the UK celebrating a European trophy victory and the other will feel they have wasted their money and time travelling over 6000 miles to witness defeat!
