BetVictor Southern Premier League Central Division Preview.

Monday Jul 22, 2019

Following on from a strong finish to last season, Tamworth, under the management duo of Gary Smith and Andrew Danylyszen, will be very hopeful of a strong season and lofty final position in the league table. The bookmakers have moved Tamworth up to favourites at 3/1, slightly ahead of local rivals Nuneaton (at 4/1). There is the option of looking at the best list of new sports betting sites UK where you will find free sports bet no deposit required.

This favouritism is most likely down to the good run of form since February and the excellent signings made over the summer, experienced players that are proven at this level that should strengthen the squad. This along with the fact that both Kettering and King’s Lynn got promoted last season and are no longer in the division, two teams with very large budgets. This leaves no team in the league with a much bigger budget than any other team.

Tamworth have also looked good initially in pre-season especially going forward despite two home defeats. A 4-1 defeat to Aston Villa U23s masked a good performance where the Villa keeper was man of the match and Tamworth had a goal disallowed and two penalties saved.

Other teams that could find themselves in the mix come April will be local rivals Nuneaton, who have signed several ex-Lambs players over the summer. This will make for a very interesting clash on Boxing Day at The CR MOT Centre Community Stadium and over in Nuneaton on Easter Monday. Stourbridge should also improve on a strong last season and AFC Rushden & Diamonds will also be hoping for at least a playoff spot.

So it looks like Tamworth will be the team to beat this season, but hopefully the experience of a season at this level last year, the new signings, the new management team having a pre-season to get their ideas across and the momentum from last season will all come together to justify the bookmakers odds. Keep an eye on the live scores throughout the season as it unfolds.
