BIOGRAPHY
Charlie began his career playing for Sutton Coldfield based amateur team Sutton United, where his performances drew the attention of Coventry City, who scouted the player for a period.
Shaw joined Mansfield Town in 2015, spending time playing for the club's youth and U21 teams under the stewardship of former Tamworth favourite Scott Rickards. Charlie got his career off to a flyer on the opening day of 2016-17 Central League season, scoring the winning goal against Rotherham United. His association with Mansfield Town came to an end at the end of that season on the expiry of his contract.
Following his release from Mansfield Town, a disappointed Shaw sought guidance from his former coach Rickards, who having experienced a similar disappointment earlier in his career, advised Charlie never to give up on his dream of playing in the Football League, Rickards helped Shaw get a trial at Tamworth.
Charlie signed up by his hometown club for the 2017-18 season, initially joining the U21 side, but his performances saw him progress to the first team. Charlie made his debut for Tamworth on 5 September 2018, in a National League North game away at Brackley Town which finished goalless. Shaw went on to make seven appearances during the season as Tamworth suffered a disappointing relegation from the National League North.
Despite the club's relegation, Charlie remained loyal to Tamworth and the club confirmed that Shaw had signed a new contract on 26 May 2018. Charlie’s game time doubled during the season, and even spent time deployed as a right-back.
Charlie committed himself to Tamworth for a third season on 29 May 2019.
