 Club supports Kit4Causes!

Tamworth FC have joined a project to supply surplus football kit to children across Africa. Non-League fan Julian Chenery is behind the initiative, having collected unwanted kit to send to Africa since 2013. He visits non-league grounds across the country to receive kit and Tamworth was his latest destination on Saturday.

Julian was invited to attend Tamworth’s game with Redditch United, which ended in a 3-1 win for the away side. And, prior to kick-off, he was presented with kit and equipment which will be sent to Uganda for children to use.

Julian said: “I went to the World Cup in South Africa in 2010 and saw some of the poorest townships in the country. “To witness at first hand the poverty that families with young children were living in was tough. “A lot of the children there love football and just wanted kit. I thought it would be a good idea to try to do something to help and I had a few contacts in the Non-League world."

“People had spare football kits and it has spiralled from there. Every Saturday now, I tend to go somewhere whether its a proper non-league club like Tamworth or even a team who play on a council pitch. It was lovely to go to Tamworth and be welcomed the way I was on Saturday.”
