 Junior match reporter captures action!

Thirteen year old budding football journalist Liam Bryan summarises the action on a disappointing day for The Lambs!

Tamworth F.C. vs Coalville Town F.C.
Coalville Town move up one place to 9th whilst unfortunately Tamworth move down to 14th after the Ravens run
out 3-1 winners at the CR MOT Centre Community Stadium.

The game started with both teams struggling to maintain possession , both teams resorting to long balls down the field.

The first chance of the game came to Coalville’s number 5 as his header glanced wide of the post. The Ravens continued their dominance with Kairo Mitchell’s header also going wide of the post 6 minutes later.

Tamworth started to dominate possession in later stages of the game with Fortune Maphosa and Cameron Johnson shooting wide of the post. However Coalville took the lead in the 31st minute after some brilliant hold up play from Kyle Perry who laid the ball off to Kairo Mitchell who passes to Coalville’s number 11 , who places the ball past Jas Singh into the net.

The Tamworth main stand started to liven up as the home team pushed for an equaliser , however Coalville continued to pressurise the Lamb’s defence.

Coalville extended their lead straight after half time with Coalville number 11’s low curling effort beating Singh in the net.

Raven’s boss Adam Stevens continued to bark out orders to his players with his side looking to maintain their lead. Coalville nearly extended their lead further with Kyle Perry hitting the woodwork from a few yards out.

As the game went on , both teams started to tire with both sides again resulting to long balls down the field.

With 78 minutes played the lambs received a lifeline after Robert Dadley awarded a penalty for a foul on Lamb’s striker Greg Smith. Smith eventually converted the penalty , sending the Coalville goalkeeper the wrong way.

Tamworth started to push for an equaliser with 10 minutes to go as Greg Smith’s shot is saved by the Coalville goalkeeper , however all hopes of a Tamworth equaliser were soon forgotten as the Tamworth Goalkeeper Jas Singh’s misjudgement causes the Raven’s number 12 to place the ball into an open net.

Tamworth unfortunately suffered their 5th defeat of the season as the score finished Tamworth 1-3 Coalville Town.
